Eminent and powerful actor ATM Shamsuzzaman is no more. He passed away this Saturday morning (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilahi Raziun).
His youngest daughter Koel Ahmed confirmed the news to Bangladesh Pratidin. “My father has really left for the land of no return this time,” said Koel, breaking down in tears.

ATM Shamsuzzaman was admitted to Azgar Ali Hospital in Old Dhaka on the morning of February 18. His oxygen level was low. Dr. hospital. He was under the care of Ataur Rahman Khan.
His full name is Abu Taher Mohammad Shamsuzzaman. He is better known as ATM Shamsuzzaman. He was born on 10 September 1941 at Nanabari in Daulatpur, Noakhali. His father Nuruzzaman was a well-known lawyer and Sher-e-Bangla used to do politics with Fazlul Huq. Mother Nurunnesa Begum. Shamsuzzaman was the eldest of five brothers and three sisters.
ATM Shamsuzzaman’s film career began in 1981 as an assistant director in director Udayan Chowdhury’s film Bisakanya. He wrote the first story and screenplay for the movie Jalchabi. The director of the film was Narayan Ghosh Mita, the actor made his film debut through this film. So far he has written more than a hundred screenplays and stories. He started his film career as a comedian in the beginning. He came to the screen as an actor in 1985.
